Our dream: A better world
Deutsch Español
Are you also concerned about unlimited economic growth and the growing inequality between rich and poor, as well as between the global South and North?
Fifty years ago, the Club of Rome warned of the consequences of endless growth. Global economic output has increased fivefold since 1970, even though the world’s population has only doubled and, according to the IMF, global economic growth is still rising exponentially today.
This growth can only be achieved because we throw away what we buy after, on average, only half of its useful life.
But we have to produce so much, otherwise there would be too little wages and social benefits.
Economic growth is plundering our planet’s resources and flooding the oceans with plastic waste and the atmosphere with greenhouse gases. Scientists warn of climate change, species extinction and rising sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps.
Further growth is to be achieved through the arms race that is just beginning. Once the arms race is over, wars will inevitably follow, because reconstruction will then have to contribute to further economic growth.
Let us think back to the ‘economic miracle’ after the Second World War.
Wouldn’t we rather have a better world?
I invite you to enter the world of BENHARMONIA.
Hello and welcome to Benharmonia!
The world has finally decided that from today on we will give each other our work. Money is therefore no longer necessary and because there are no more profits, the economy only produces what we really need to live happily and contentedly.
It was quite simple. Since money only enters the economy through wages, we have decided to do without our wages and salaries from today on. We have known this for a long time from civil society.
Since we receive all raw materials and energy as gifts from the earth and the sun, goods no longer have any financial value and we can simply take what we need.
Don’t be surprised, because nothing has changed at all. The mobile phone is still there, the streets are still full of cars and tomorrow morning we will go back to work, college or school.
But in the next few days, weeks and months there will be huge changes. The first thing we will notice is that we don’t have to pay for our daily shopping in the shops.
When we come out of the shops, we will behave exactly the same way as we would if we received gifts, such as for a birthday or for Christmas. We will be very happy.
Social well-being will skyrocket as a result. Even more so than in our ‘dreamland’ Bhutan.
That’s it, really. Nothing more will happen for the time being.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if there’s no more advertising and no more discount offers. If you’re on the internet, you won’t need an ad blocker.
This is simply because no one is interested in giving away more than necessary.
You will see, only now can you recognise what you really need to be happy. Don’t forget your free time!
So that not too much has to be given away, the products will also last longer again. You will never have to worry about the printer or coffee machine breaking down just after the warranty because in the future, the economy will be there exclusively for us and not for the profit of entrepreneurs and banks.
If less is produced, then of course there will be much less waste and exhaust gases. We will probably have achieved the long-term climate goals in a few days. And since fewer raw materials are needed, the deforestation of the rainforests will come to an end. And of course the wars will come to a very quick end because the scarcity of raw materials will have come to an end and no more money will be made from the sale of weapons.
You probably have a lot of questions now.Read More
